Read monthly and quarterly forecasts

Forecasting from an NSN result opens the monthly view. The forecast form can open either the monthly view for an item or the quarterly view for a supply class. Forecast amounts are quantities for the displayed month or quarter.

How to get here and continue

  1. From Main Menu → Parts/Products → NSN Forecasting, enter a full NSN or NIIN and choose Search By NSN/NIIN for a monthly forecast. For a class forecast, select FSG and FSC, then Search By FSC. You can also reach a monthly view from an NSN result using Forecasting.
  2. The item route opens a monthly forecast; the class route opens a quarterly forecast. Use the page heading and period labels to tell them apart, then read the matching field guidance below.
  3. Use browser Back to return to the page that opened the forecast. From a linked item record, Back returns to the forecast, then Back returns to the search form. If the class or item has no forecast rows, return to the form to choose another one.

Monthly display

The monthly view displays 25 forecast quantities beneath month/year headings. Search By NSN/NIIN on the forecast form opens this view. If no forecast row is displayed, the page can show NO FORECAST DECLARED BY DLA. This view has no export control.

Read each amount under its displayed month and with the item's UOM.

Quarterly display

The quarterly view shows forecast quantities by federal fiscal quarter: Q1 October–December, Q2 January–March, Q3 April–June, and Q4 July–September. Search By FSC on the forecast form opens this view. It has no export control.

Quarterly example: FSC 4010

The October 12, 2026 search chose FSG 40 — Rope, Cable, Chain, and Fittings and FSC 4010 — Chain and Wire Rope, then pressed Search By FSC. The DLAForecastingQuarterly page showed NIIN 000582450, CHAIN ASSEMBLY, SINGLE LEG, UOM EA, LastPrice $1.05, AMC 1, and AMSC G. Its period headings ran from 4th QTR FY 2026 through 4th QTR FY 2028. The row's quantities were 3, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 0, giving Total 66. With EA as the unit, that total is 66 each across the displayed quarters, not $66. The $1.05 LastPrice is a separate reference value.

When no forecast is declared

Monthly forecast empty message

A forecast is a planning quantity. Compare the item with award history for prior purchases or current solicitations for open opportunities. The form and both result layouts offer no Excel export control.
