Open and read application reports

Get to a report and return from it

On Main Menu, select My Government RoadMap for the industry report, or Expiring Contracts 120 Days for the keyword report. In either report, select a linked count to open the relevant companies, agencies, solicitations or contracts. The destination guide explains those rows; this page explains the viewer around the report. Use browser Back to retrace a same-tab drilldown, or close a separate child tab to return to the report you were reading.

Several search and roadmap buttons open a report in the application's viewer. The viewer displays a report chosen by the link that brought you there; it is not a general search form. The industry RoadMap example below rendered two pages and shows how to read the viewer controls.

Two roadmap buttons, two different reports

Main Menu choice Destination What to expect
My Government RoadMap Opens the account's industry/NAICS report when it has a CAGE; otherwise the menu opens trial information. Read the industry roadmap fields, including expiring-contract counts and dollars under each year.
Expiring Contracts 120 Days Opens the account's keyword report. Read the keyword roadmap fields. Its four month columns group expected completion dates.

Other application links use the same viewer for department profiles, industry spending, agency counts and a solicitation PDF-style report. A report link may pre-fill a company CAGE, department, NAICS, office or contract number. Keep those parameters and the report title with any screenshot or exported file; the same label can have a different scope in another report. Parameter prompts are normally hidden, although some report links may display them.

Viewer controls observed on the industry RoadMap

Control Purpose and observed limit
First Page, Previous Page, Current Page, Next Page, Last Page Move through report pages; buttons for unavailable pages are disabled.
Refresh Reloads the report.
Go back to the parent report Returns within a report drilldown when a parent is available. Do not confuse it with the browser Back button.
Zoom Changes the displayed size; choices include Page Width, Whole Page and percentage sizes. It does not filter records.
Export drop down menu Offers Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, TIFF file, MHTML (web archive), CSV (comma delimited), XML file with report data and Data Feed. Select a format and inspect the resulting file before using it.
Print Opens the viewer's print path.
Find Text in Report, Find, Find Next Locate words or numbers within the report. Enter text before choosing Find.

An October 10 Excel download from the Expiring Contracts 120 Days keyword RoadMap has a BizPlanByKeywordCage sheet with 96 keyword rows and the Business Development figures and month links shown in the report. Read the keyword report fields and Excel export guidance before calculating from it: monthly cells are text, and some agency/incumbent cells display URL text in place of a count. Some batch workflows use a separate direct-Excel route to download .xls files without this interactive viewer.

Practical reading sequence

On the two-page industry RoadMap, Next Page moved from page 1 to page 2, where Next and Last were disabled. Choosing 75% changed the zoom. Entering 541720 in Find Text in Report and pressing Find returned to page 1 and displayed Found. Find searches across report pages; it does not change the account's industries or rerun an application search. Wait for the report to finish rendering before reading it, because controls can be temporarily disabled during loading.

  1. Confirm the selected account and any report title, CAGE, department or industry code in the heading.
  2. Read the year or month and the unit beside each amount. Government RoadMap year cells show contracts expiring in the displayed year; keyword RoadMap month cells group expected completion dates. Open a linked list for individual award actions.
  3. Open a drilldown only when you need the underlying agency, company, notice or award action. A count link changes scope; do not add figures across levels without checking the new heading and filter.
  4. If the viewer offers a download, record the file type, sheet names, headings, selected parameters and generated date. Check one displayed row against the source before distributing it.
